Founded on a vision of dignity and recovery, guided by continuous commitment to family-centered healing.
A philosophy professor who lived with alcoholism for 20 years, Dr. Johns K. Mangalam overcame his addiction at 36 and dedicated the remainder of his life to helping others find their way back.
In 2004, driven by his own recovery journey, he founded Punarjjany as a place where addiction would be treated with dignity, where families would be included in healing, and where traditional wisdom would meet modern medicine.
Legacy: Over 20,000 family members impacted. Registered Charitable Trust. ISO 9001:2015 certified. A model that continues to guide healing work today.
Sooraj Johns Mangalam carries forward his father's vision with deep commitment to family-centered, medically supported recovery. As Managing Trustee, he leads Punarjjany's expansion and innovation while preserving the foundational values that make recovery here different.
Under his leadership, Punarjjany continues to serve families from Kerala, South India, and across India with the same dignity, compassion, and clinical excellence that defined the centre's beginnings.
Focus: Expanding reach across South India, integrating emerging best practices in addiction medicine, deepening family-centered healing, and ensuring every resident leaves with a strong foundation for lasting sobriety.
Leadership rooted in recovery, guided by what works.
Every person deserves to be treated with respect and compassion, not judgment.
Addiction is a family disease. Healing happens when families are included.
Qualified doctors and psychologists, only medicating when clinically necessary.
